Story Homes Enjoy Their 30th Anniversary Family Fun Day

13 Sep Story Homes Enjoy Their 30th Anniversary Family Fun Day

Story Homes celebrated the company’s 30th Anniversary last weekend with a spectacular free family fun day for all its employees, held at Carlisle Racecourse.

The long-established racing venue put Story Homes in contact with CBA Events following other recent successful events and we were engaged to deliver event management, first aid provision and a range of activities.

The founder of Story Homes – Fred Story – wanted to thank the staff from his Carlisle, Chorley and Newcastle offices for all their hard work and commitment to the company, resulting in a whopping 1,500 guests coming through the turnstiles on the day.

The brief was to deliver a fun, family day with heaps of activities and entertainment for employees and their families with a celebratory atmosphere.

After months of coordination and planning everything was ready to go.

But the weather man had other ideas.

The forecast a week before the event was set for 20 mile per hour winds and torrential rain which meant we had to come up with a new plan – and fast.

Bad weather would impact heavily on some of the activities planned – mainly the inflatables and the climbing tower – so the main aim was to move as much inside as possible.

CBA Events provided marquees to enclose the activities that would be affected by the inclement late summer weather and kept a close eye on the forecast to make sure that everyone’s safety came first without taking away any of the fun.

When Saturday came around, the wind had died down and all the adaptions for the event were greatly appreciated by the client.

The kids (and some parents!) enjoyed circus skills, school sports day, garden games, face painting, an inflatable disco dome,  a magician and a bouncy castle, whilst the adults (and some children!) tried their luck at the casino tables and exercised their vocal chords at karaoke, along with the popular selfie mirror, table football, rodeo bull, table tennis, bubble kicks, bungee run and on the sports field.  The party carried on into the evening where guests were entertained by local band Hardwicke Circus!

If the guests enjoyed the day as much as we did, then we’re pretty such it was a success.  “Everybody really enjoyed themselves, all feedback has been really positive with lots of folk saying the range of activities was great covering all age ranges and abilities,” Avril Masterton, PA to Fred Story.

Despite the usual event challenges, it’s important as always for us to remain flexible and ready for every situation, making sure that we provided the best day for Story Homes.
